Exhaustion

I'm mentally and emotionally exhausted.  I'm also running a bit on the physically exhausted as well.

So I'm having a hard time writing anything for the blog that isn't a snarky whine fest :P

I am amazed

constantly by my ability to mess everything up.  It's quite a talent when you think about it.  I've been given opportunities, some of them literally handed to me.  I just can't seem to seal the deal.

I know what is wrong but I am at a loss at how to reverse things.

I expect pigs will be flying soon

In response to this article, which was posted that "It was so Victorian", I stated that Mr. Santorium was, I believed, a Roman Catholic, therefore his beliefs and statements appeared to be in line with official Catholic teaching on the matter.   Which I thought was rather shocking in and of itself.  Essentially, the Roman Catholic Church teaches that birth control in any form is a mortal sin and wrong.  But that is perfectly consistent with the no sex outside of marriage belief too.  Cause if you aren't messing around you don't need birth control.  Amazing how that works.

Another person stated that the Church might believe these things, (There is actaully no might about it.  There's buckets of Church teaching on the matter.), but that the people who belong are much more in tune with God.

Mmmmmhmmmm.  I see.

Because God wanted women to have abortions.
Because God wanted women to be able to have unrestricted, no consequences sex so they take pills that put their health at risk.
Because God's all about the objectification of women.  We are just sex toys you see.
Because God wants women to catch incurable diseases from unresponsible men. (and vice versa)

Mmmmm.  I may not be in tune with what God wants the majority of the time.  But somehow, the current sexual culture does not seem in tune with what God wants.

But I don't have a theology degree so I could be wrong.

Never did I ever think when I was young little rebel that I would be defending Church sexual teaching.

Well, Here They Are

Here are my goals for 2012.  It's a mix of personal and professional.

  1. To stop complaining and whining and suck it up and deal.  Just shut the hell up.
  2. To be more professional in dress and deportment.
  3. To shut the hell up.
  4. To keep my temper.
  5. Not to rise to my sister's bait or play passive aggressive games.
  6. To think first then speak.  Although I should just shut up.
  7. Do not throw my boss under the bus.
  8. Do not argue with my teammates.
  9. To be a better person.
  10. To be nicer to people.
  11. To be more considerate of others.
  12. To not be so imperealistic and demanding.
  13. To not nag.
  14. To grow up.
  15. To just deal with it.
  16. To not be all the things I hate.

Goals and the Lack Thereof

The Boss has asked me to write goals for this year.  Goals.  I'm thinking it is supposed to be a mix of personal and professional goals.  No problem.

Except I've never written goals in my life.  Which probably explains a great deal.  I had one goal in life and I accomplished it.  I'm at loose ends.  I'm not sure what kind of goals I should come up with or even make up.

I'm sure I could come up with something...but I'm not sure how realistic they would be.

I suppose I could work on snarking less in the year....

I've lost my mind..

Photo Buddy discovered there is a meteor shower tonight, the Quantanipids, I think.  It's semi-clear out and he has decided he wants to take photos of meteors.  It's 30F out.  Don't ask what the windchill is.

I have a degree in astrophysics and I taught astronomy.  I've managed to avoid stargazing in January.  That ends tonight apparently.

Insane.  And what does it say that I'm gladly going along with him?

FYI:  I'm actually rather excited about going.  Despite the whine. :)

Astrophotography Attempt

Orion Over the Missouri River

I took this image on December 31, 2011.  I'm on the boat ramp in the Weldon Spring Conservation Area. At this size, you can't see the star trails or the camera shake.  I actually used a tripod for a change.  There's something wrong with my tripod:  the adaptor plate doesn't fit snug and there's some wiggle.  It was also windy.  I thinking that's where the shake comes from.  What I think is most amazing...if you look at the full size image, you can see something that looks like M42, the Orion Nebula.

What I need to do is figure out how to take multiple short exposure images so that I can stack them and then combine them into one.  I also need to find out what is up with my tripod.
